 Technologies

Every project is unique and we match the tools we use to the scope, requirements and future scalability of each application in order to produce reliable, efficient and affordable solutions.  With experience ranging from small Microsoft Access databases to full-fledged enterprise suites of interacting components, applications and web technologies, we are able to make knowledgeable recommendations about which technologies are best suited for  your particular solution.

Due to their historical dominance, the majority of Savage Enterprises projects have involved Microsoft technologies.  In the quickly-changing world of software development, however, competing technologies and open-source initiatives have become a viable alternative in many situations.  Savage Enterprises is a Microsoft Registered Independent Software Vendor and will continue to build MS Solutions in addition to employing other promising technologies where appropriate.

Technologies:

  • Microsoft Visual Studio Suite - Visual Studio .NET 2005, 2003, v. 6.0
Extensive use building custom desktop, client/server and web applications as well as components.
    • Visual C++
    • Visual C#
    • Visual Basic
    • ASP
    • ASP.NET
  • Microsoft SQL Server - Savage Enterprises uses MS SQL Database Server and related technologies in projects where reliability, speed and feature sets are primary requirements.  SQL Server is a robust DBMS that is widely available and can be hosted relatively inexpensively or maintained on-site for larger installations.
  • Microsoft Office - Microsoft Office has grown more and more powerful and new features make Office a viable and efficient front-end for data access and productivity.  While MS Office can limit available functionality, it is often an excellent choice because most workers are familiar with the interface and training time is dramatically reduced.
  • Sybase SQL Anywhere and Adaptive Server - Sybase database DBMS.  A competitor to SQL Server and useful in mobile applications.
  • MySQL - an open source database system that is an inexpensive alternative to commercially available products.  Feature set still lags slightly, but it is widely supported and becoming very robust and feature-rich.
  • Microsoft Windows Server Technologies - The server and client operating systems that run the majority of our applications.
    • Windows Server 2003
    • Windows 2000 Server
    • Windows NT
    • Windows XP
    • Windows 2000
    • Windows 98
    • DOS
  • Scripting - used extensively in web programming and data processing
    • JavaScript
    • PHP
    • ASP
    • Perl
    • VBA for Office Applications
    • Various Machine Control API's
  • Address and Geo-Coding - using several API's to CASS certify address data as well as to link geographical and demographic data to customer databases.
  • Machine Control - We have used custom API's to run a wide range of machinery - from collecting data from utility meters to running laser bonding machinery and biochemical assay equipment.
