BNS Wax Recommendation

Soldier Hollow Super Q

1/28/12

This is a 5/10/15K Mass Start on the Soldier Hollow Olympic course.

This is a forecast based recommendation.

Weather –

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 13. North northwest wind around 5 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 45.

Recommendation

We recommend the following:

Base Layer:  Ski*Go LF Graphite

Race Paraffin:  Ski*Go HF Orange/Green

Fluoro Powder: Holmenkol Wet or Ski*Go C22 Powder

Topcoat: SkiGo CM10 Block or Holmenkol Wet Block. Skigo C22 liquid could also be very good.

Testing Discussion – In these conditions it is very hard to beat the SkiGo HF Yellow under layer at soldier Hollow. We have had tremendous success with CM10 this year in warmer conditions such as these, and C22 liquid is always good as the snow starts to transform on the plus side of freezing.

Testing Results

Paraffin Test-

1. Ski*Go HF Orange/Green
2. Holmekol Matrix Red
3. Ski*Go HF Ultima/Yellow
4. Ski*Go HF Red/Green
5. Holmenkol Matrix Black/Red
6. Start Green

CONCLUSIONARY NOTES – Test the blocks against C22 liquid in the AM to see what is fastest.

note: BNS imports Holmenkol and SkiGo waxes, and also sells waxes from Swix, Toko, Rode, Solda, Rex, Guru, Innovax, Magnar and others. We search for the fastest waxes for our customers and our testing is professional, objective and transparent. We make our best effort to test what we think is the best from each brand.  However, given that we are testing more options from Holmenkol and SkiGo, there is a bias toward those brands.  With this full disclosure, you can assess the legitimacy of our testing yourself. Visit Swix and Toko for their official recommendations. If you have any questions please contact us.
